It's really frustrating
when you know you’re phone can get faster internet over 3G than the current WiFi hotspot you’re at.

AMP Radio
If you live in Los Angeles, by now you’ve probably heard/seen all the hype about AMP Radio - “Number 1 Hits Radio Station, Commercial Free Mondays, ‘I made the switch from KIIS’, etc.”
I’m not really much of a radio listener, but I tuned in to 97.1 the other day and was truly surprised to find that they actually live up to their “Fewer Commercials than...
In-N-Out Goes Religious?
The other day I had lunch with my mom at In-N-Out. After finishing my cheeseburger, I noticed something really interesting. On the back corner of the paper that holds the cheeseburger is some text that reads: “Revalation 3:20.”
I’m not Christian by any means, so my Bible passages are a little rusty. A quick Google search was all I needed to find out what Revalation 3 Line 20...
Stay Young at Heart?
Have you noticed that a lot of celebrities have set really old pictures as their avatars for Twitter? I was wondering what this was all about. If I was a celeb, I wouldn’t want the world to see my high school yearbook photo, complete with braces and the like. Why, then are celebrities like Diddy, John Mayer, and John Legend using old pictures for their avatars.
I thought perhaps it...

On rape...
Never, I repeat, NEVER, should rape be called an unfortunate misunderstanding between a man and a woman.
This is sad.
I had to write a post about Michael Jackson. Yes, the King of Pop is dead. It’s a sad time. But what’s so depressing to me is that Michael Jackson’s getting all the press. All we’ve done is rehash about this guy for three days straight. I mean, what about Farrah Fawcett?

HD Channel on Vimeo →
The high-def channel on Vimeo is legitimately the most incredible collection of videos I have ever seen.
If you’re unfamiliar with Vimeo, think YouTube, but more clean, professional, relevent, and basically just better.
Street Solicitors
I think I’m a pretty nice guy most of the time. That’s why I hate street solicitors. I either don’t have time to hear what they’re saying, or I’m just uninterested. Can’t you see I’m uncomfortable with lying to your faces about some unmissable appointment or trying to look somewhat appreciative after I get caught attempting to not make eye contact? So,...

Ethiopia: Day 3
Today was bumpy. And I mean that in the literal sense. We woke up early, had a quick breakfast and jumped in the Land Cruisers around 8am. That started our 10 hour journey to Southern Ethiopia. The first 500 kilometers were pretty solid – paved roads, a fair amount of corrugated metal. But as we drove farther and farther south, the roads got more bumpy and the villages surrounding us got less...
Ethiopia: Day 2
It’s our first full day in Ethiopia. I just woke up—an hour early. Decided to whip out the computer and update the blog a little bit. I somehow managed to tame the wireless network in the hotel, so I can do a bit of writing and a bit of web surfing. The plane rides yesterday weren’t that bad. Our group was split into two sections on the plane but at least we were together. I feel like the...
Ethiopia: Day 1
Dulles. Terminal D. Gate 23. We landed over four hours ago. I was upgraded to Business class for the first leg of our day and a half long journey to Ethiopia. It had its plusses and minuses. I was separated from the group, but the superior legroom may have made up for it. I’m still debating. Kept busy with our iPods, trips down the concourse to Subway and Gordon Biersch, and Jen’s writing...

Blog Action Day 2008: Poverty
Today is Blog Action Day. I, along with over 12,000 bloggers, am supposed to blog about this year’s theme - poverty. I live a pretty affluent lifestyle, pretty much having little to no exposure to poverty. I really had no idea what I was going to blog about today, possibly talk about my work with YouthInkwell and what we’re doing to help people in Ethiopia. But today, after a...

“What isn’t part of our job, however, is to carry out work on behalf of the multi-billion-dollar banks and mortgage industries.
Too many times, our deputies arrive at a home to carry out a mortgage foreclosure eviction, only to find a tenant — dutifully paying their rent each month — who is unaware their landlord stopped using that rent money to pay the mortgage. They had no...

My First Purchase from Etsy!
I made my first purchase from Etsy» a few days ago. I bought a cute greeting card from a store called Industrious Lily. View their store here». They have some really cute stuff and they’re local, based right in Pasadena - good move for the environment. This is why I love buying this from Etsy:
Vice Presidential Debate Wrap-Up
I don’t know how qualified I am to write this post considering I only watched about half of the Vice Presidential Debate between Governor Sarah Palin (R) of Alaska and Senator Joe Biden (D) of Delaware last night, but here’s what I thought.
Palin exceeded expectations. Granted, no one expected much from her to begin with, but she exceeded them. She touched on all the questions that I watched –...
What's Your Tumblr Number?
joelaz:
Tumblr assigns a sequential number to each site on their service. The lower the number, the older the site. To find your number, login to Tumblr, go to the Following Page, then click on the name of your site in the top right corner of the screen just below the “log out” link. Now, look at the URL in your browser address bar and note the number at the end of the URL. Mine looks like...

New Theme
Hey everyone.
Sorry, I’ve been incognito for a while. School’s been taking up a lot of my time, plus apps, plus SAT prep, plus YouthInkwell. Blah, blah, blah. I know, it’s the same stuff over and over.
Just wanted to make a note about the new theme. To be honest, I was getting kind of bored of the custom theme. It wasn’t perfect, and I didn’t have time to fix it...

Paparazzi @ Harvard-Westlake?!?!
Okay, so I’m driving up Coldwater Friday afternoon to pick up some stuff when I see about six men and women with cameras, still and video, pressed up against the west fence. Apparently, this Ashton Kutcher guy is a hot commodity. But the best part is that when I was leaving school and driving down Coldwater, I saw our Head of School, Dr. Jeanne Huybrechts hanging out with them too. She...
Penn Info Session @ Beverly Hills Hotel»
I just got back from the University of Pennsylvania informantion session at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset and Beverly. I thought it was a wonderful event - a great info session. Granted, Alexandra Santiago, the Regional Director of Admission for Southern California, went over basic stuff, but if you hadn’t been to a Penn info session before, which I’m sure was the majority of the...

Goodies in the Mail!
Today I found something new and exciting in my mailbox. Wait, I feel like I just misled you. I knew the thing was coming (cause I ordered it online) but it was still really lovely to find it waiting for me when I got home.
I ordered a set of Minicards from Moo.com». I know, right? What on God’s green earth are Minicards? They’re like little mini business cards except you get to...

Really legit coding.
I didn’t check, but if this is done with javascript, there’s some serious MooTools action going on there.
PS: Etsy» is a really cool site where you can sell stuff that you’ve made and buy homemade stuff. It’s like eBay for artists/artisans/people that can make cool stuff.
