Ethiopia: Day 3
Today was bumpy.  And I mean that in the literal sense.  We woke up early, had a quick breakfast and jumped in the Land Cruisers around 8am.  That started our 10 hour journey to Southern Ethiopia.  The first 500 kilometers were pretty solid – paved roads, a fair amount of corrugated metal.  But as we drove farther and farther south, the roads got more bumpy and the villages surrounding us got less...

Ethiopia: Day 2
It’s our first full day in Ethiopia.  I just woke up—an hour early.  Decided to whip out the computer and update the blog a little bit.  I somehow managed to tame the wireless network in the hotel, so I can do a bit of writing and a bit of web surfing.  The plane rides yesterday weren’t that bad.  Our group was split into two sections on the plane but at least we were together.  I feel like the...

Ethiopia: Day 1
Dulles.  Terminal D.  Gate 23.  We landed over four hours ago.  I was upgraded to Business class for the first leg of our day and a half long journey to Ethiopia.  It had its plusses and minuses.  I was separated from the group, but the superior legroom may have made up for it.  I’m still debating.  Kept busy with our iPods, trips down the concourse to Subway and Gordon Biersch, and Jen’s writing...
